Prize Winners Lunch

On 8th March, over 30 members enjoyed the excellent hospitality of the RAF YC for the annual Prize Winners lunch celebrating our 2024 winners. Reflecting the excellent year that they had on the water, the crew of Collateral definitely walked off the biggest haul of silverware.

The AGM and annual discussion forum kicked off proceedings with plenty of lively discussion but nothing contentious to note. Reports of the racing, cruising and membership were read out, leaving committee members were thanked, and new members were welcomed. However focus quickly switched to celebrating the victories of the previous year.

Prizes kicked off with with Panache winning the achievement prize for single-handing to 6th place in the race to Poole,  Muscadet de Havelet and Coric celebrated their Challenge cup victories and Coh Karek picked up the wooden spoon for an amusing admin error ahead of the AGM! Corafin also picked up the admirable 'Best boat not winning another prize'.

The next set of trophies were for racing, with Carinosa, Andaxi, Blanco and Collateral picking up their respective prizes, whilst Drumbeat, Merak, Jemmana, and MRT were celebrated in their absence.

The final two prizes are awarded for overall good racing - with Bugler taking the Saturday trophy for their excellent advertisement for the class by picking up 3rd place in ISC in one of the most testing Round the Island Races, whilst Collateral's clean sweep of the Inshore series, Cowes week and Nationals meant they were awarded the Annabel Trophy for overall best boat.

If you fancy winning a prize in 2025 and enjoying the lunch next year, the program is now published in the calendar so please do sign up. We also have some unallocated trophies (previously declared lost) - so do get in touch if you have any nominations for other prizes we should award!

Thanks go to Mel McQueen and the RAF YC for organising an excellent lunch, Donna Rouse Collen for taking the photos and Selina Johnson for stepping in take minutes at the last minute!
