Training Day - Saturday 15th April 2023

On a fine April morning (without the April showers thankfully) a handful of Contessa 32s mustered in the Solent for a much needed training day (in my case anyway).  It was great to dust off the winter cobwebs and get back out on the water to brush up on our boat handling and manoeuvres.  Guy and Zoe Darby did a sterling job as "Race Officers" although their nerves must have been put to the test on a couple of occasions - maybe that's why an inner distance mark is such a good thing for the sanity of those on any Committee boat!!  The three practice starts were very useful for getting one's eye in and getting to the line exactly at the right time - although Guy had to report after one start that one boat was not only "OCS" but "well OCS" - you know who you are . . . . . Andaxi!!!  We can't talk, we (Muscadet) were at least a minute late for one start!

The three races that followed the practice starts were just what was needed to hone our hoists and drops - and I think that all the boats that took part in this training day will feel very slightly more confident going into the first race weekend of the season at the Island Sailing Club on Saturday 13th and  Sunday 14th May - please do join us for this weekend - bookings for both the racing and the 3-course dinner at the ISC are now "live" on the website.

The more the merrier!

More photos in the gallery - all thanks to Zoe Darby.
