I was on the Stand yesterday at the Boat Show & managed to get copies of the Magazine to sit alongside the other material – I checked that the CO32 ‘beat’ the Bavaria, which (no brainer) it of course did. Both Yachting World and Yachting Monthly have managed in the past to make some snide remarks about the CO32 being not quite as good as its reputation – maybe someone has an axe to grind but having experienced 85 knots of wind once in the Channel I know which boat I would best like to be on – definitely not a Bavaria. John McCann and I both pondered whether Bavarias would ever last for 40 years!

I read the article today and my question is: What do they want to DO in the heads? The Contessa heads is one of the most comfortable and fit for purpose I’ve ever known. I hate being shut in behind a door in a boat. In our SHE 36 you couldn’t get out if someone left a sail outside the door. In the Co32, on starboard you lean back on the cupboard and on port, brace against the hanging locker. At anchor, the fore hatch for ventilation. Compact enough to steady yourself to sort oilskins. Pumps out on both tacks. How can you be carrying around shower water? Even where we sail mainly on west coast of Scotland there are hotels, hostels, public showers, waterfalls, or even the sea for heaven’s sake! At least 9/10! Maybe men are different.

Thank you both so much. That is a real help. We only had a small bilge keeler before and I had no idea how much AF to use! Best wishes, Nick
