Guide to Contessa 32s

I have more or less completed my personal Guide to CO32s – largely but not totally geared to ‘sorting’ boats for racing. However I am missing a few bits of general stuff and should be grateful for Owner’s input on the following (inc pictures in JPEG Format): Replacing bottom bracket on rudder Replacing rudder bearings Replacing propshaft bearings Replacing water tank I know there have been examples of the above on the Discussion Board but the aim of my Guide is to have most of the FAQs in one place and to be able to update it every once in a while when people make contributions to the Discussion Board.

JR & Harken have both shown interest in seeing the Guide but I shall have to ensure that they do not use it instead of advertising in the Magazine.

Colin

Great!
What format will it be when finished? Like a book or as a web site? When do you think your work is completed? Keep up the good workSmile

I am hoping the Guide will be posted on the Site as it is a sizeable File due to the Pictures. I will see how it turns out in PDF Format. At present it runs to almost 30 pages!

Hi,

Replacing the bottom bracket, I have done. I machined a bolt together assembly
I have machined rudder bearings, delrin, I included a bottom plastic bearing to silence the flutter noise when motoring.
Prop shaft bearing I have done a piece on, “removing your stern tube and why would you want to” but if you fit a cutless bearing, fit a tides marine shaft seal to pressure feed the tube and it will last years.
Water tank i have not touched and would say ask the builder as it is well bonded in.
