Marisca has the single telescopic supported folding table. The base tube has become wobbly and it is not obvious to me how it is fixed to the boat. Before I start removing the cabin floor can anyone give me a clue as to what I may find, please? I suppose my fear is that the base is bolted to the hull by through bolts (heads hidden) and doing nothing is not a good idea. Ideally, reassurance that it is best left well alone would suffice!

Assuming yours is the same as our 1973 boat, the inboard bolt goes through the plywood cabin sole and you can reach the nut through the hatch above the water tank. The two outboard fixings are through-bolted from the outside of the hull, their heads covered with filler.
When I removed our table (which took quite a bit of force as the aluminium base was firmly corroded onto the bolts) I disturbed the bolts enough for the filler to fall out.

Check the cabin sole for delamination – that’s what happened to ours. Removing the outboard bolts is a job for when you are out of the water – they are thru hull and if you drop one…..
When our boat was treated for osmosis, we had a layer of woven rovings epoxied on prior to the new gel coat, so now all of the skin fitting bolts are behind this. Until we come to need to replace them it seems like a good idea! So when I replaced the cabin sole it was done with the table base still attached to the hull.
