Switch Panel Box

mcollen88 at 05/10/2017 14:51:05
I’m planning to rewire over the winter, ive seen a few posts of people making boxes to fit into the ply beside the nav station, then wiring it up in place. Does anyone have the sizes of box they built and the max size of switch panel used?
Thanks

Hi Martin, this is an old post – hopefully you have seen Colin’s efforts via the FB page.

If it’s not too late, and if it is for reference for others.
Two factors affect size – the panels you want to use and the holes you want to include!
I’m using 3 standard Blue Sea traditional metal panels, 13 way 12v distribution, 240v and battery management. 267 wide by 394 high.
The box ended up at 345 × 470 × 150, set by the holes in the bukhead, though at this depth you have to chamfer the lower aft corner. The door frame is then a fairly complex structure to mask the width required.
Photo’s on Facebook when I finish, pm if you want more details.
