The time has come to renew our electrical panel. 21 years of condensation and the adding/subtracting of various bits of kit has made it somewhat obsolete.

I am therfore in the process of researching building a new one. If anybody has any top tips I would be glad to hear them. I am particularly interested in any suppliers of panels/circuit breakers etc..

I replaced my EDP 10 years ago with a ’Blue Seas Marine EDP from Merlin Eqpt (01202 697979). Not cheap, but very happy with it. it includes a ampmetre and voltmetre so I can monitor the state of the batteries and also how much I am drawing

A bit late now but you could design your own if you are a bit computer savvy.
I did this using the original footprint and sent the design off to a ‘tag’ firm to be milled and engraved. The result was quite cheap and very pleasing – drawing available.

As it happens we are yet to place our order.

The company we are favouring at the moment will provide a completed panel with 24 individual CBs (of various ratings) that we will use as switches.

The price, off the top of my head was just over £300?

Not yet, only a rough drawing. The panel will consist of 4 vertical columns of 6 CBs. It is to be made up to the same dimensions as our existing one and won’t include the ammeter our voltmeter as we have these separately catered for.

If life stops ‘getting in the way’ and I firm up the order I shall have more details.

Meanwhile I would be interested to see alternative ideas!

Have e-mailed Dave with a pdf of my panel. Will do this for anyone else if interested. From memory I think the panel was less than £100 & the trips & metres about £8 each but it was a couple of years ago.

I`ve made a panel also, but it`s not quite ready yet…
It`s has the same dimensions as the old one, so its easier to replace.

You mean switches ? It`s still just a drawing with foto`s from switches from a webstore.
And i`ve noticed the boat`s backwards. But she isn`t sailing. And its looks better like that.
