Watermaker. I am getting ready to go cruising and wonder if anyone has come up with a good place to mount the PUR Powersurvivor watermaker in a CO 32? As it must be below the waterline, it seems I have few choices.

I have had one on my boat for a number of years it is mounted below the engine on the port side the pre filter is above it and the water intake is of a manifold for the engine intake sea cock, the waste water goes out through the sink sea cock the system works very well, I fitted another water tank (flexible0 under the starboard bunk and this was for water from the water maker and the main water tank was kept in reserve in case the water maker failed and started putting sea water into the water tank (this has never happened and I have had the unit for many years .
Hope this is of some help

I have a pur 35 and have that under the chart table seat.

Make sure you have the intake as low as possible and the biggest problem with them is air, When sailing getting gulps of air will drop the pressure. A tank below water level with a breather would fix this but where to put that?

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like the engine room is my only option at this point. I am going to mount it on a hinged bracket above the shaft and keep the pre- filter as low as possible. I suspect I will need a check valve if I share the engine raw water. The vented tank idea sounds great, and I will put a small one in there if air is a problem.
When I am at the dock and working on “Tessanna” I always think I need a bigger boat – then I sail her and am completely happy with the space and seaworthiness…

Thanks Robin – I will post my travels. Hopefully departing for Equador and points beyond in Sept this year.
I am curious where your batteries are mounted, as mine are under the chart table seat.

cheers Warren

If you get to New Zealand let me know I left from Maple Bay on my CO 32 and we are now living in NZ with her just down the road on a mooring
