Diesel Tank

samourai at 21/10/2016 09:57:51
Hello everybody,
Yesterday I try to take out the diesel stainless tank from the port-side locker.
After spending an hour to disconnect everything I realize it does NOT want to come out
from this locker….Actually it is a matter of few mm. The tank is really dirty inside and I would
like to clean it up and also repaint the entire locker. Does anybody know how to take the diesel tank out ?
Any advise will be welcome. Disapprove

I removed it in 2010. You can and (must)bend(!) the grp panel to remove the tank from the locker.

If i haven to do it again, i would clean the it inside the locker. Less fuss. [broken image removed]

Hello Ben,

Thanks a lot for the pics. It looks exactly the way I tried to pull the tank out.
Actually when the locker started to bend I stopped because I thought it will break….
But now I will try to do this with more confidence….and if it works I will put a little post….
Just one question: did you cut the little stainless tube which is fitted on the side of the tank as
a sighting gauge ?
Thanks again

Hi again, I finally managed to bring out the diesel tank and I have to admit that it wasn’t so difficult after I saw your pics. The small detail is that I had to cut the little stainless tube called sighting gauge.
We will weld it again on the other side, after cleaning the tank.
Thanks again

Great work! Did the locker bend as much as on my boat?
Quinessens tank did not have a sighting tube, only the fuel valve.

Hi Ben,
The locker did bend quite a bit, but nothing serious.
I wanted to post some pics but I could not figure out how.
How did you do it ? It could be useful for everybody on the forum.

Hi Ben, I finally managed to post the pics. On the 3rd one you can clearly see the little sighting gauge which had to be cut in order for the tank to come out.
Thanks again for the help.
