Raymarine give a range of distances from the rudder stock for fitting the drive pin. The range is from 457mm (standard) to 356mm. I want to fit it a greater distance from the rudder stock; within reason I’m assuming this won’t be a problem since it will provide more leverage.
Is there a maximum distance?

Farther from the rudder stock may constrict tiller movement of course

Of course I can ask Raymarine or their agents but it means sitting on the phone for 30 minutes

You also need to consider the height of the cockpit seat, to match pin height with the curve of the tiller. Or it will get tripped off the pin.
I do not think leverage is the issue: rather range. With the Raymarine 4000 I have an occasional problem when overcanvassed that it hits end stop, continues to churn and heat, then trips out as “low battery”. I have not found a way to adjust this end stop cut-off. My experience is that you need lots of rudder travel, but leverage/power is not a problem. It is a worm drive after all.
