As many of you know YM ran a supplement in their 100th anniversary issue. The original YM brief said that the choice would be taken by a panel, taking account of the voting on their website.
We clearly won the voting by a huge margin. Some say this was an attempt to skew the result; I prefer to think it is a testament to the huge and loyal following that our boat still has after nearly 40 years!
... and in the end it was the opinion of one man, James Jermain and he is, of course, entitled to his view.
Any way, for those that didn't get a copy here are two scanned images of the key pages:

WE THINK HIS COMMENT "... perhaps not quite as good as the legend suggest!!"
.
.. IS A BIT NAUGHTY!!
Firstly “What legend?” and “What shortfall?” – I believe the ‘legend’ to be ‘hugely seaworthy’, ‘unique combination of cruising and racing’, ‘pretty’ and ‘patriotic and social class association’.
The evidence to support this legend in 1,2 and 4 is overwhelming – we could produce some comparative statistics and arguments and 3 is a matter of opinion – but I suggest we refer back to the 10-12 articles in YM and other magazines that say it.
WE THINK A BETTER STATEMENT WOULD BE ".... probably the best boat in the world!"
